I Had A Head Injury 8 Months Ago Due To
Question: I had a head injury 8 months ago due to a fall. The ER did exam, CT scan, said there was nothing. Later saw my primary and a neurologist. The neuro MD thought I had incurred TBI and referred me for brain injury rehab -- but the rehab was not yet started due to CoVid19 restrictions in my state. Many symptoms have not gone away in 8 months (recurring head pressure, memory loss, getting lost in my own house, extreme hearing sensitivity, to completing a mental task in a certain timeframe, etc.) The impact to the head was right side over the ear (temporal?). I could not touch that area of head impact for almost 3 months without a lot of pain. If I want a 2nd opinion, what type of MD should I go to? Neuro surgeon? Other? I read that some injuries are brain fractures not always seen and that can heal themselves, but mine feels like a small fragment (??). Not sure how to proceed. What would be the best next steps to take.
Brief Answer:
A brain MRI and an evaluation by the Neurosurgeon are necessary.

Hello and welcome to the 'Ask A Doctor' service.
I have read your query.
Since there was found no damage in the first CT scan, you should not be worried about anything serious.
The problem may be the soft tissues of that area besides the fracture that, if it was true, it should be consolidated by now.
In my opinion, you should have a head and a brain MRI.
Also, after that, an evaluation by the Neurosurgeon is necessary.
In the meantime, I recommend you to follow the brain rehab program proposed by the Neurologist.
Hope you found the answer helpful.
