I Got A Bad Blow To The Head A Little

default
Posted on Mon, 28 Jan 2019
Question: I got a bad blow to the head a little over a month ago, still waiting for my insurance to approve a CT scan. I have had head pain in different places on the top of my head since then, and there is a groove that hasn't gone away where the contact was. Tonight I'm having shooting pains in my left temple (not constant), which is the side the groove is on. On the same side, something happens in my neck when the pain happens; my left ear has also started hurting. Could it just be a pinched nerve in my neck or should I be worried? Should I go to ER or no?

Brief Answer:
Best to go to the ER, should not have waited for insurance approval.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Welcome to Ask a Doctor service.

It is highly unlikely for head injury to cause trouble now after 1 month, ideally head injuries should be investigated immediately in an emergency setting.

Since you do seem to have something going on with your neck, mostly a pinched nerve in the upper cervical region, you must go to the ER and get yourself evaluated completely.

And if CT scan is indeed required, ER doctors would usually get it done.

I hope that answers your query.

Best regards
