I Frequently Note A Strong Sensation To Urinate Despite Nothing

Question: I frequently note a strong sensation to urinate despite nothing coming out, or having urinated immediatey prior.

I am 34. My urologist did a digital exam of the prostate and noted no abnormality.

I%E2%80%99ve noticed that this issue seems to occur when I%E2%80%99ve consumed alcohol, have urinated, and have ejaculated within a short interval.

The only relief I find when this happens is to sit on the toilet and wait it out. Usually the sensation disappears after 25 minutes. During that 25 minutes, I may dribble or urinate a small amount every few minutes.

I%E2%80%99ll also add that I take 5 mg of creatine daily.

The issue has occured intermittently for some years. Maybe five years or so.

I have had routine labs done as a part of annual physicals. Nothing abnormal, and no blood in urine. I have had emptying tests done, which were also normal.

It seems to be more common with beer, I suppose. But I don%E2%80%99t drink many other types of alcohol.

The creatine is something I take as a gym supplement.

Brief Answer:
As discussed in details below.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your feedback.
Since an Urologist has seen you, conducted the emptying tests, annual physical being normal, per-rectal examination was done to tell about normal prostate and the problem instigated or enhanced by consuming beer my opinion is as follows:
Alcohol in form has many compounds that are know to cause some sort of allergy/reactions.
It is possible that something in beer is causing an edema of the prostate and/or the bladder sphincter mechanism hence the temporary symptoms that you are having.
Takes the time for the edema to settle and the things go back to normal.
I would advise you the following in such a situation:
Stop Beer for sometime (say a month or so) and see if this solves your problem. If the problem is solved then the cause is known and prevention is the best way to keep away from any problems.
This will also allow to observe any other factors causing the symptoms, say like stress and anxiety or any other food or beverages. Your keen observation alone can help.

I hope this answers your query and helps you to find the cause and eliminate the problem.
