I Experienced A Tennis Injury When The Area Behind My

default
Posted on Sun, 14 Apr 2019
Question: I experienced a tennis injury when the area behind my left knee hurt instantly to the point I could barely hobble to the side. By the time I got home could barely lift leg enough to hobble. Think that was from swelling. That was 7 weeks ago. Doctors keep giving me different diagnoses-miniscus, arthritis, cyst, etc. I know I ha e both arthritis and degenerative minis us (I’m 74), but don’t see how either of these could have caused the spontaneous incident on the court. MRI shows no evidence of recent injury and they say the knee is structurally sound. Yet the pain persists behind my knee. It hurts most to sit it the chair presses against my leg, just above the knee. It also hurts at night unless I can remember to lay flat on my back with my leg outstretched or on my stomach with leg stretched out. Can’t lay on side without it aching.

Brief Answer:
Can be a muscle spasm.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
The sudden pain that has started in the knee can be stress related muscle spasm. If MRI scan has shown no structural damage then there is no need to worry. Rest, hot compress and oral muscle relaxants will help you. You can also use an elastic knee brace for an extra support to the knee and relief. Avoid all the stressful activities like climbing stairs or running or squatting till then.
I hope this answers your query.
