Posted on Thu, 21 Nov 2019
Question: I developed an itchy rash on my head and forehead two weeks ago a few days after a haircut. The rash has also migrated to my forehead where the rash appears larger/lumpier. What can it be and how should it be treated?

Brief Answer:
Regarding rash on scalp and face

Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome to 'Ask A Doctor' service.
I have gone through your query and noted your concern.

Perhaps it is either seborrheic dermatitis or a sunlight-induced eruption/ polymorphic light eruption. Both of these are itchy and can present as dry, red, patchy or bumpy rash on scalp and face. I request you to kindly upload a few images of the affected area in the "Reports Section" so that I am able to have a look and confirm.

In either case, I would suggest you use a moderately potent topical steroid e.g either Mometasone furoate cream or Triamcinolone acetonide cream, twice daily for a few days. In addition, I suggest you take an oral antihistamine e.g Levocetirizine 10mg tablet once a day for a few days

Hope I have answered your query.
