Question: I am writing because I have had a type of headache that has lasted now for the past 3 days off and on. It specifically is a sharp, cracking pain at the very top/crown of my head, just center right. This terrible pain lasts for about 30 seconds then goes away. It comes back at random intervals, perhaps 4-5 times a day. When it is not this extreme pain, I can usually feel a very low, dull feeling in the same spot, sometimes radiating through the right side of my head and temple. Sometimes there is a warm sensation as well.
Is this anything to be concerned about where I should follow up with a doctor like if it is a clot of some sort? Or is this a typical of some form of regular headache or migraine? I don't seem to be having any cognitive issues or vision issues, but when the pain comes, it is quick but severe. Please let me know your advice. Thank you in advance.

Brief Answer:
Ice pick headaches to consider. Advised to see your Neurologist.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

I have read your question and here is my advice.

Ice-pick headaches or primary stabbing headaches should be considered in your case.

In most of the cases, there is no other underlying cause that is causing these headaches.

In other cases, ice pick headaches may accompany conditions such as a migraine, herpes zoster, multiple sclerosis, etc.

Since there are no other neurological symptoms besides the headaches, there is probably no an underlying condition, however, getting evaluated by your Neurologist is necessary to understand better your condition.

Hope you found the answer helpful.

Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards
