The RT PCR report taken atleast 12 hours for reporting once sample reaches the performing laboratory.
All symptomatic patients, patients who have to under go surgery, contacts of covid 19 patients have to undergo covid 19 testing.
Others who need to get this test are decided by the local health authorities of particular country / state.
Other tests are also being done for covid 19 like TrueNAAT and antigen testing.
However, these tests have limited sensitivity and specificity so all positive and all negative tests have to confirmed by RT PCR respectively.
