I Am Having Surgery For A XXXXXXX Facelift Tomorrow And
Question: I am having surgery for a XXXXXXX facelift tomorrow and the doctor told me to take 2 of the .5 mg alprazolam at 6:00 am and 2 more .5 mg at 7:15 am. I have never taken alprazolam before. Is that too much.

Based on the history you have shared, the dose of alprazolam you mentioned is very high for a starter. If you have been on any other benzodiazepine or sleep medicine before and effects have worn off or dependance is suspected, in that case this much high might be needed.
Also that anesthesia given before surgery may not demand this intervention but a confirmation should be made by the anaesthetist who is helping the surgeon during your surgery about the dosage. At this point keep yourself calm as it's not a very major surgery, and get good sleep and follow the fasting instructions as per advice of surgeon, before surgery.
Also blood pressure and sugars etc may be needed to be monitored before surgery and should be kept in an optimal range. Wishing you a speedy recovery. Regards
