Question: I am a T6 paraplegic and have always had some trouble with balance. Lately I feel it is much worse. Also, I am dropping things all the time. Worst thing is falling asleep in the middle of doing something.

Worsening of balance could be related to increased spasticity (stiffness) of legs, which can happen in people with old paraplegia.

Excessive sleepiness could be related to a sleep disorder. The most common is obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). In this condition, people have snoring and disturbed sleep during nights. This results in excessive sleep during daytime. OSA can be diagnosed by doing sleep studies 9polysomnography).

Vitamin B12 level should be checked to rule out deficiency.
