Question: I am 57 old male and my heart went into afib 3 days ago. I do not smoke or drink. I've been able to get my blood pressure down with medication but cannot get the afib to correct itself. My pulse has been steady between 150-160 for the last three days. What can/should I do to get my heart back in proper rhythm.

Detailed Answer:
Hello There

After going through your medical query I understand your concern and I would like to tell you that atrial fibrillation is an auto immune rhythm disorder which can be reverted back to normal with cardioversion, but sometimes it can’t be reverted.

Atrial fibrillation is controlled with anti-arrhythmic and beta blocker drugs. It’s recommended for you to consult your treating cardiologist personally for same and suitable medication for you.

Hopefully this information will guide you properly.

Kind Regards
Dr Bhanu Partap
