Question: Hi Doctor,

I had a polyp in my uetrus and I underwent a hysteroscopic polypectomy on 2nd XXXXXXX The biopsy showed that the polyp is benign and rhe endometrial curetting shows simple hyperplasia.

The doctor has put me on Meprate tablet for three cycles. I am TTC and wanted to get your opinion if the medication and simple hyperplasia affects the chances of getting pregnant.

Also, please advise.

Brief Answer:
The medicine will help in regularizing periods.

Detailed Answer:

Hello,

A uterine polyp can decrease the chances of conception. This has been removed in your case. A simple hyperplasia of endometrium is a hormone related growth of endometrium. This can be well controlled with hormone therapy. This will not interfere with your chances of getting pregnant as long as you are ovulating normally.

Now that you have started with Meprate you are likely to have regular periods which will help in decreasing the endometrial hyperplasia. You will need ovulation inducing medicines also after consulting your gynecologist to help you conceive.

I hope this answers your query. In case you have additional questions or doubts, you can forward them to me, and I shall be glad to help you out.
Regards,

Hi Doctor,

Thanks for your response. You mentioned that I might need ovulation inducing medication? How can we check if ovulation is regular or not regular?

Also, ever since I started the tablet- Meprate, I have been having mild discharge(pinkish/brownish) everyday. Is it a normal thing during this medication.

Could you also explain what exactly does this medication help in, I was under the impression it will regulate period. In that case why would any other ovulation inducing medication be required?

Brief Answer:
Details below.

Detailed Answer:

Hello,

To check for the ovulation you can go for ovulation study which involves serial ultrasound scans to find out if the ovulation is happening or not. This is usually done if your periods are regular.
The mild pinkish discharge can be due to the effect of the tablet or due to a mild hormonal disturbance. This should subside on its own in next few days.

This medicine- Meprate will cause a regular bleeding every month. But this does not ensure that an egg is actually forming in your ovaries which is necessary for conception. You need further tests to find out the cause of delay in conception and the medicines that will help you conceive in case you fail to conceive naturally.

Hope my answer is helpful. Do accept my answer in case there are no further queries.
Regards
