Brief Answer:
Steam inhalation is the mainstay of treatment.

Detailed Answer:

Hi,

Most often such episodes are due to some viral infections and usually, they have an allergic component associated. I would insist you to try giving her Atarax Drops (hydroxyzine) for the next few days. You may continue to give LCF Kid, although you are free to stop it. I do not think that Koflet is needed.

You need to give steam inhalation to your child. It helps in reducing the congestion and thereby the cough. Just sit with the child on your lap and place the source of steam before you. The water vapor will be in the air and automatically the child will breathe it in. Water vapor will reach deep inside and would help in diluting the cough and thus would provide relief.

If your child is otherwise active and playful, I would not be concerned. If not, it would be a good idea to visit a doctor and to get the child evaluated. If the respiratory rate is greater than or equal to 40 breaths/min you would need to take her to a doctor for the possibility of underlying pneumonia. If the rate is lesser, you need not to worry.

I hope that I could clear your doubts. Feel free to write back.

Regards.

The baby is active and playing normally,, but usually she coughs badly , already said in my first query, at bed time and when she wake up in the morning ... This is the first time that she got this kind of cough .. I will definitely go through your suggestions and will get back to you.

Also please tell me the strength of Atarax to be bought from Pharmacy.

As per internet atarax has many side affects for infants.

Brief Answer:
No need to worry.

Detailed Answer:

Hi again,

Atarax Drops is available in only one strength.

It is a very widely used medicine and we do not usually observe any side effects. The primary side effect that we observe is increased sleeping but that is hardly a cause for concern.

Hope I have answered your query.
