Question: Hi there! I'm a 19 year old female and I found a small pea sized lump on my neck a few months ago. It has stayed the same size relatively, and does not hurt. I don't have insurance right now so I can't afford to see a doctor if it's not necessary. Still, it is a lump and I'm worried. How urgent it this and who should I see for it?

Brief Answer:
It could be lymph node

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX

It sounds like a lymph node. Where exactly is it located? Is it XXXXXXX or fixed to your skin? Tender? Any recent throat or ear infections? How big is it? Can you send a photo of it?

Looking forward to hearing from you.

It is a little above my collarbone on my left side. It rolls a little under my finger but stays in the same place, so I don't think it's XXXXXXX and it doesn't hurt. I haven't any throat or ear infections in the past few months. I cant send a photo because it isn't visible, but you can definitely feel it. It's very small, about the size of a pea. At first I thought it may just be a swollen lymph node but it has been there for months and has not gotten smaller, I don't know if that's normal or not.

Thank you

Brief Answer:
Probably a harmless lymph node

Detailed Answer:
Hi again XXXXXXX

To me it sounds like a harmless lymph node. You should get blood tests (hematology) and an ultrasound. If it at all seems suspicious, you should have it removed.

Hope this helps. Please let me know if you have further questions.
