Question: Hi doctor. My name is Jason. Thank you for your time. I am a 23 year old and I have a question concerning heart palpitations (in connection with anxiety, exercise and caffeine. I have had two medium sized medium roast cups of coffee today. I admit I haven't had that for a few days. After coming home from work I did my daily exercise. During my exercise I experienced a heart skip sensation. A feeling of a short stop - followed by a hard beat. I felt this happen 2-3 times (Along with fluttering) then it stopped skipping. As I rest I have anxiety about them happening again or being serious. Should I be concerned? *I've had EKGs ECGs done showing my heart is healthy*.

Brief Answer:
Nothing to worry

Detailed Answer:
Hello

After reviewing the medical query raised by you I can understand your concern and I would like to tell you that every healthy individual so have skip beats once a while everyday and it’s pretty normal until unless it start happening every now and then and cause symptoms like lightheadedness or giddiness.

I would like to suggest you to decrease the intake of your coffee and also try to stay stress free as these are also important reasons of irregular heart rhythm or palpitations.

Also if possible you can get an echocardiogram done sometime to confirm every thing is alright.

Kind Regards
