Question: Hi Im a 43 year old female for the past few weeks I have been experiencing a chronic sense of pressure in my rectum. I have been to my pcp she gave me supossitories which did not seem to help. I had a gastro appointment set up for this Friday but Dr had to cancel and reschedule for two weeks time. There has no been blood and stool seem normal should I be overly concerned about sensation of pressure (seems to be worse with prolonged sitting) what could it be and is it ok to wait an additional two weeks for appointment with specilaist. What can I do in the meantime to lessen the sensation.

Brief Answer:
Inflammation in ano rectal canal.

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear and thank you for asking query on HealthareMagic,
Have seen your details and I appreciate your concerns,
Very likely you are suffering from inflammatory condition of rectum. This condition is called proctalgia. Very likely you are having proctalgia only.
Your gastroenterologist would do a digital rectal examination of your ano rectal canal and if required a sigmoidoscopy would be done.
Take an anti inflammatory medication like Ibuprofen along with a laxative which would help the stool to pass easily.
Take isabghul husk 10 gram three times a day for smooth passage of stool.
May be you would be fully relieved even before you consult your Gastroenterologist.
Hope I was helpful.
Follow ups are welcome.
Thanks you.

Brief Answer:
Follow up.

Detailed Answer:
Hello again,
No proctalgia is basically an inflammatory condition which may be caused by trauma or infection while pelvic floor dysfunction is usually associated with tone of muscle.
So as such both of them are not related.
Hope I was helpful.

Follow up with what your Gastroenterologist suggests.
