Brief Answer:
Kindly send details of symptoms

Detailed Answer:
Hello!

Welcome on Ask a Doctor service!

Regarding your concern, I would like to know if his shoulder pain is triggered by shoulder movements or deep breathing.

Does he have any other symptoms like: shortness of breath, chest pain?

If his pain is triggered by shoulder movements, it should be related to a musculoskeletal pain (probably a wrong position during sleeping). In such case, ibuprofen or acetaminophen would help relieve the pain.

If he is experiencing other symptoms like chest pain, high blood pressure or shortness of breath, I would recommend going to the ER for a physical exam, a resting ECG and cardiac enzymes in order to exclude a cardiac issue.

Hope you will find this answer helpful!

Kind regards!
