Hi, I Was Bitten By A Dog On September 28
Question: Hi,
I was bitten by a dog on September 28 and I took the first dose of anti-rabies vaccine the same day. My second dose was supposed to be taken on October 1. But, due to unavailability of the vaccine, I wasn't able to take my second dose. Now, I have purchased the vaccine. So, the following is my query:
1) I read in a few journals that if you haven't received a minimum of 3 doses of anti-rabies vaccine and there is a deviation in the days of taking them, it is better to start again. Is it true? So, should I start afresh from tomorrow, i.e. October 3?
2) Can you please tell me how do doctors come to the conclusion that 5 dosages need to be taken and on this particular days.
I personally am a little scared and I don't mind starting from the first dose. I hope it doesn't affect my body's capacity to make enough antibody to fight the deadly virus.
Please suggest.
