Hi I Stubbed My Big Toe Last Night And It
Question: Hi I stubbed my big toe last night and it is lifting from the bed, has blood all over and is oozing clear pus. I need a prescription and clear instruction as to the proper way to irrigate, soap, no soap, antibiotic ointment/none. i am so frustrated right now. I have been trying to get to talk to a Dr for 1/2 the day. Please......I don;t care what it costs but can i just get to a LIVE dr.....please!!!!

I have gone through the attached pictures.
It looks like your toenail is partly detached and the area still looks swollen, with blood stains. Is the blood still oozing out?
Since you must have stubbed your toe quite hard, we have first rule out any chance of hairline fracture. If you are able to flex the toe properly, then it is fine.
If the toenail is partly detached, take care as to not pull at it. You can wash the area with soap or betadine wash, remove all the blood stains. If possible, you can trim off the loose part, so that it does not get caught on the dress fabric or anything. Try to trim off the entire part of the nail which is off the nail bed with clean clippers. The exposed nail bed should be washed and kept clean and dry always. You can apply Bactroban ointment and apply a non-stick bandage over it. Once the nail bed is not sensitive anymore, you can expose it.
You are also required to take a course of antibiotics and a tetanus booster dose if not taken in the past 1 year. If I were your treating physician, I would suggest you to take CEFADROXIL 500mg, but since this is a prescription drug, you may need to consult with a doctor and see if he can prescribe it for you.
