Question: Hi, I have a small pea sized (seemingly soft/pliable) lump next to my shin bone. It is not rock hard. I noticed it about a week ago. Looks to be on the anterior tibialis muscle/ligament area close to the shin bone. It is "slightly" tender to the touch but not sure if that is because I keep pressing on it. I do play the drums which utilizes my foot and I am sure the ligament is utilized In my shin more then I realize. I also exercise (often times squats and bike). Wondering what it could be and if it is possibly related to the activity or lipoma, vein, or something else.

Brief Answer:
Soft tissue swelling likely.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
A small swelling next to shin that you have noticed is likely to be a soft tissue swelling like lipoma or a sebaceous cyst. This is not likely to be related to any ligament or muscle injury. The mild pain can happen due to repeated examination also. In case the swelling increases in size or becomes painful then you can consult your physician for a direct examination and confirmation of the diagnosis. An FNAC can also help.
I hope this answers your query.
In case you have additional questions or doubts, you can forward them to me, and I shall be glad to help you out.
