Question: Hi,
I am trying to build muscle and lose weight, hence a certified personal trainer suggested me to investigate the following tests.
My height is 5ft 8 inch, weight is 85kg, age 28.
What is the uploaded report suggested? As far as I observed, my VitaminD and Growth Hormone are below the normal range.
My Testosterone level is not much higher. It should be a little higher than 600 would ideal for muscle building.
Why my growth hormone is so low? Unable to figure it out?
What is the main reason for such a low VitaminD, how it can be corrected? Why I haven't got any symptoms till now, as I can see, it's level is extremely on the lower side.
Please, interpret the test report and clarify me. Give suggestions about how to build muscle and lose weight, I have training for the last 4 month under the guidance of personal trainer following high protein diets.
Please, give suggestion about the aforementioned problems.
PS-I was 72kg on XXXXXXX 2017. That time I was training moderately. I didn't train until XXXXXXX 2018. Gained weight about 14kg.

Brief Answer:
You need serial growth hormone measurements

Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome to Ask A Doctor service.

I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Your growth hormone levels needs serial tests to actually find out the true levels. Growth hormones levels fluctuate through out the day and at most times these levels are negligible. The growth hormone levels increase temporarily after meals, exercise and during sleep. So repeat this test at different times of day.

Vitamin D would be low because of low sun exposure. Symptoms maynot be present in adults. You can take its supplements after measuring the calcium levels in blood If both are low then take Osteocalcium D3. If only D is low then take calcirol XXXXXXX once in a week for a month and then biweekly. Recheck after 3 months.

To lose weight, you can avoid fatty foods like milk products (butter, ghee, cheese, ice cream, sweets etc). Sedentary life can also lead to weight gain. Being active throughout the day will help. Swimming helps in overall toning of muscles.
You can build muscles with regular weight lifting.

Your uploaded report suggests only this much. There is no need to be worried about testosterone levels or any other hormone levels.

Hope this helps. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Brief Answer:
Yes higher testosterone means good muscle mass

Detailed Answer:
Hi again

Yes, it has been observed in research that higher testosterone level corelates with muscle mass. But the cut-off level ideal for muscle building has not been proven in medical research.

You can take Tab Olestra after every meal to lose weight.
To build muscle you can either use medicines or hard work. Its your choice.

Studies regarding variations in growth hormone:
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/0000

Another nice article on growth hormone deficiency diagnosis and replacement:
https://www.karger.com/Article/FullText/101286

So if there is growth hormone deficiency, you definitely need more tests to confirm it before you start growth hormone supplements. You cannot confirm it on the basis of single test. That is the medical guideline and I am suggesting from the guideline itself.

Hope this helps.
