Brief Answer:
Provide feww more details .

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for query .

Based on the facts that you have posted you have been diagnosed to have Chronic Prostatitis and was prescribed Ciprofloxacin with no satisfactory improvement after taking the same for 20 days .

I shall be happy if you can post me more details to help me in making precise comments
1) Have you consulted qualified Urologist ?
2) Was a digital rectal examination was carried out ?
3) Was following investigations done before confirming the diagnosis of Chronic Prostatitis
a) Urine culture ,semen examination and culture
b) Microscopic examination of a urethral discharge after doing prostate massage ?

If so please upload reports

Chronic Non Bacterial Prostatitis is very notorious disease that is characterized by very vague symptoms typical of Bacteria Prostatitis but no positive evidence of bacteria infection is detected on relevant routine investigations.

Please consult qualified Urologist for clinical and digital Rectal Examination (DRE) and get the above mentioned investigation to confirm the diagnosis of Chronic Non Bacterial Prostatitis .

Once the diagnosis of Chronic Non Bacterial Prostatitis is confirmed there are very little chances that it will get cured with antibiotics.

Truly speaking there is no standardized treatment for Chronic Bacterial Prostatitis however following modality of treatment does help to get relief from symptoms which I have been practicing for last 45 years of practice and getting satisfactory results .
1) Do prostatic massage every day. This helps to discharge all the prostatic secretions and there by reduce congestion of prostate .You will need help of a health care personnel to learn this technique of doing prostate massage ,
2) Take urinary antiseptics like Nitrofurentoin twice daily.

Hope I have answered your query ,please feel free to ask if you have more questions,I shall be happy to help you
Thanks and Regards.

Yes, I was at a qualified urologist, and he done a digital rectal exam and urine examination and culture which came good, no bacteria found.
I should mention that I have this simptoms for more than a year, and maybe this is why it should take more to feel better? Should i continue this treatment because there is a slight improvement?
Maybe because this infecțion is dificult to treat because it haș a lot of time, more than a year.

You can continue taking antibiotic for another two months .However if it does not get cured to your satisfaction you may consider the modality of treatment ( Doing Prostate Massage every day )which I have suggested in my reply earlier .

Thank you.
And based on your previous experiences it is possible for ciprofloxacin to start working later, lets Say after 4 or 6 or maybe 10 weeks? Have you had any patients that started feeling better after more than 4-6 weeks?
Thank you.

Brief Answer:
Ciprofloxacin does work to reduce the symptoms .

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for follow up .

Ciprofloxacin does play little role to reduce the severity of symptoms but long term evaluation is not encouraging .I personally do not advocate antibiotic for more than 4 weeks especially in cases where all the relevant tests does not reveal any positive sign of bacterial infection .

Thanks and Regards.
