Question: Hi, I am 31 years old. I have been having random sharp pains in my head (same spot everytime, top right). When they happen, it sometimes makes my eye have a pain. The pain lasts a few seconds. Recently (the past few days) I am having pressure to my head and sometimes pressure to to my ears, temples, and the upper part of the bridge of my nose. Another thing that I have had happen is randomly (only a few times) i will get light headed and it almost feels like a fuse blew in my head. It isn't painful but it does make me lightheaded for a minute and then it goes away.

Brief Answer:
Symptoms are suggestive of paroxysmal hemicrania.

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for posting your query.

I am Dr Sudhir Kumar, Neurologist, and I would try my best to help you.

I have noted your clinical details. Based on this, you are most likely suffering from paroxysmal hemicrania (PH). This is a condition, where headache occurs several times a day, lasting for very short duration, as in your case. This is not a serious problem, and in most cases, the brain scan is normal. The pain responds to medical treatment with indomethacin capsules. There is no need to worry.

I hope my answer helps. Please get back if you have any follow up queries or if you require any additional information.

Wishing you good health,

Would you recommend getting a scan to make sure it’s nothing else?

Brief Answer:
Yes, it is better.

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for getting back.

I would advise getting a scan done, especially if the pain continues despite taking medicines. Moreover, this is the first time you are getting these symptoms, so, it would be better to get a scan done, even if we expect it to come normal.
