Question: Hi Doctor

I have a concern, I had an encounter with a woman but it was only deep kissing, no sexual involvement, just deep kissing, I think I had a skin tear on my lip but no blood

I'm just worried about hepatitis B

I done the following tests

4 weeks hep b test = negative
6.5 week hep b test= negative
9 week hep b test = negative

Is 9 weeks conclusive? According to the CDC it states the following:

"HBsAg will be detected in an infected person’s blood an average of 4 weeks (range: 1–9 weeks) after exposure to the virus."

If i had the virus would it have shown by now?

Brief Answer:
Regarding your hepatitis B status

Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome to ask a doctor service. I have gone through your query and noted your concern.

Your tests are conclusive and you are right if you had got infected then it would have showed in the tests by 3-4 weeks. But the point is that there was no need to test for hepatitis B in the first place because hepatitis virus infection is transmitted through either sexual contact or through blood as with sharing of injection needles in injection drug users..It is not transmitted through saliva as it is not infectious.

Hope I have answered your query. Lat me know if you need any more assistance.
