Question: Hey there, I%E2%80%99m Male, 29 years old, a smoker.

I starting having some issues in my abdomen and bowel movements about a year ago, after accidentally swallowing a dental crown. I used to have normal bowel movements, once per day, normal color, normal shape. After swallowing that dental crown, I spent 4 days not emptying my bowels, I tried and I couldn%E2%80%99t. I went to the hospital to get it checked and did an X-Ray (Please refer to attached picture). The doctor prescribed a laxative for me and said it%E2%80%99ll be fine. I took the laxative, and finally had a bowel movement the next day. The stool looked normal until the part that had that crown, after that part, it was all diarrhea, I also felt a bit of pain in my rectum due to the crown being big. The next day I had diarrhea for 4 times in one day. I thought it must be the laxative so I stopped taking it. Since then, I%E2%80%99ve been having diarrhea, sometimes different shape of stool, light colored with dark spots, or dark color with light spots. And it%E2%80%99s mostly narrower than usual, and very less in quantity. I used to poop a lot, now I don%E2%80%99t really poop much (In quantity, not the amount of times I go to the bathroom). I also have gases that sometimes feel like they%E2%80%99re creeping up from my stomach, burping, and when I pass gases, it feels as if the area it%E2%80%99s passing from is very narrow, like it%E2%80%99s hardly getting out. One doctor diagnosed me with colitis, another diagnosed me with IBS. I took all medications they gave me and didn%E2%80%99t feel better. I honestly have no idea what I have because it all started after swalling that crown, so I can%E2%80%99t help but relate it to that. Oh and and I%E2%80%99ve been having mild pain in the lower left abdomen, in the area where my crown rested (As shown in the X-Ray). Sometimes the pain gets very intense, then goes away quickly. But it%E2%80%99s usually mild and persistent throughout the day. Sometimes I feel better after eating an apple, and I could never lie on my back after eating, I know it%E2%80%99s wrong, but doing it now can literally make me feel like I will stop breathing. I did some blood tests and other tests, please refer to attached pictures. I hope you can help me with this.

Brief Answer:
Case of depleted gut flora as a result of laxative use.

Detailed Answer:
Hello and thanks for asking query on this forum,
Have gone through the images attached.
First and the foremost thing is Irritable bowel syndrome is a diagnosis of exclusion which means that when despite of all possible tests and treatments like CT abdomen colonoscopy stool tests like fecal calprotecfin etc patient is symptomatic we label her as having IBS. It usually takes years for a patient to be diagnosed as IBS however IBS is the easiest way of dumping the patient when you can't find out what's wrong with her.
Secondly your symptoms started after having laxative. Most of the laxatives have a serious effect on natural good bacterial and other microscopic flora of our gut. These bacteria's etc are responsible for proper digestion of food. Once depleted they are replaced by colonies of bad bacteria's and yeast which ferments the food and releases lots of toxic gases which causes inflammation in intestine. Compression of nerves passing through intestine by gas also cause pain in abdomen. If pain is caused by breached mucosa(by crown) *it would be persistent.

Have you taken probitics. If yes which one and in what dose and for how many days.
I would suggest you to take Capsule VSL#3 an over the counter probitics three times a day with tablets of activated charcoal twice.
Isapghul husk fiber 10 mg three times a day should be taken to add bulk to stool and to absorb excess water from stool.
Take very light home cooked vegetarian food for 2 weeks.
Take 2 cups of Greek yoghurt daily.
Any fermented food like Idli or kimchi would be helpful.
Take a cup of pears apples and oranges daily.
Saffron with boiled milk has anti inflammatory property you can have it once a day.

Follow this for 21 days you would be perfectly alright.
No test required right now.
Just follow what i said.
Follow up after a week.
Thanks.

Thank you for your response Dr. XXXXXXX

I never tried taking probitics, but I spent sometime eating yogurt everyday and didn%E2%80%99t feel much different. I will try taking the V3 capsules. How long do you think it will take to have an effect?
Also, my poop now almost always has mucus in it.
I also found this (attached picture) in the toilet after having a bowel movement, not sure what it is, and not even sure if if it came out of my anus since it looks so clean. Do you have an idea?

I also can never lie on my back after eating, I feel like I can%E2%80%99t breathe, and I mostly feel as og my anus is shut, sometimes the urge to poop is there, the gases feel present, but I can%E2%80%99t seem to let them out, and when I do, it%E2%80%99s like the anus only partially opens, and the gases find a narrow passage to pass from. What could that be?

Thanks again.

Brief Answer:
Follow up with reports of colonoscopy.

Detailed Answer:
How long do you think it will take to have an effect?-Minimum 2 weeks twice daily dose.
For problem related to mucous when inflammation is there in intestines for a long period of time and is not properly treated they start secreting mucous-Would suggest you to take an anti secretory agent Racicadotryl 100mg thrice daily for almost a week.If not available then take imodium 4mg twice daily.Along with it take natural isapghul husk 10 gram three times its a bulk forming agent and would help in easy passage of stools and would provide time to your intestines to recover.

Going through your problems i would recommend you to get a colonoscopy test doe to see a clear picture of whats going on.Follow up with reports of colonoscopy to look for any obstruction growth etc in your anal canal passage.

Follow up with reports.
Regards!
