Brief Answer:
Anyone of sex partners can be the carrier. Both to be treated simultaneously.

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX
Thanks for asking. I have read your query and understand your concern.

Yeast infection is due to fungus Candida albicans...which normally resides in our body mucous membrane and remains nonharmful till it overgrows. The overgrowth is normally prevented by healthy bacteria (lactobacilli) in the mouth /vagina or mucous membrane in the penis.

Now any of the two sex partners having oral sex can transfer the infection to other... it is very difficult to say who had caused the infection.

The symptoms of yeast would continue till treatment of the yeast is finished followed by prevention of repeat infection (by well-controlled diabetes/ no smoking/ avoiding antibiotics or supplementing lactobacillus after use of antibiotics /avoid the use of steroids/ care while wearing dentures/good personal hygiene.

*So if it is just yeast (no chance of having HIV) both of you need not be stressed... treatment or both of you simultaneously and avoiding sex till the yeast is cured should help you out completely.

I hope that answers your query. Any follow up query is welcome.
Thanks.

Thank you for your reply. No HIV. I'm the only one with the infection and was told to take one diflucan immediately and another one after 3 days. On second dose now. Was wondering for a man how long will it take for symptoms to show. He seems to be fine. Is there an incubation period after exposure?

Brief Answer:
Incubation for candida albicans is 2-5 days.

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX
Thanks for follow up query.
Appearance of symptoms depends on bodily resistance/genital hygiene of the exposed person.. so some people can remain symptom free even after exposure
The incubation period of the yeast(candida albicans)infection ..... is 2-5 days from exposure... so symptoms would appear within 2-5 days of exposure.
I hope that answers your query.
Any follow up query is welcome.
Thanks.
