Question: Hello I’m extremely worried. I am 43 years old and I had a tubal ligation 10 years ago at age 33 during my c-section with my 3rd child. My period is 11 days late and I have never had a late period before except with my previous pregnancies. I took a pregnancy test at 3 days late and it was negative but my period has still not started and today I noticed some brown spotting. I have no other symptoms. Could I be pregnant?

Brief Answer:
Reasons for delayed periods

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

I understand your concerns.

Following is my reply:

1) It is possible to have delayed periods or scanty flow during a period instead of regular flow ( brown spotting what you experienced).

2) This happens due to instances like stress due to career, family issues, change of place, new job, examinations etc...This is absolutely normal to experience this once in a while.

3) This is not pregnancy. You are not pregnant.

4) Another possibility could be beginning of perimenopausal phase.

Let me know if you need anymore help.

Regards
