Question: Hello Dr.

My son is 22 months old and we are pretty much concerned with his Saliva problem. He used to release enough amount of saliva from approx 6 months, but few days back we are noticing that the Saliva amount is reduced but yet not completely stopped.
We just need some guidance related this concern. Hoping a positive response from your end!

Brief Answer:
I won't get worried as it is a normal phenomena in this age

Detailed Answer:
Hi

Thanks for asking on this platform

I have gone through the query and do understand your.
Salivation is a normal process. Its start from birth and peaks around 6 months. Increased salivation and sometimes drooling is normal in babies in first 2 years of life.
This salivation is noticed by parents as it drools out because in early age the muscles of swallowing are not well developed. Also because of dentition there is comparitively more secretion of saliva.
As baby grows the ability to swallow improves and also the salivation decreases.
I won't get worried if baby is feeding well without any swallowing difficulty.
I hope this helps.
Please let me know if you have any more doubts.
