Hello Doctor, My Name Is Jeri And I Have RSD?CPS

Question: Hello Doctor,

My Name is Jeri and I have RSD?CPS from my waist to the tip of my toes. I am currently on several different medications (11 or 12), through a Pain Management Doctor. I also have a Spinal Cord Stimulator that is on all the time, unless I forget to charge it, this does not happen often. Among the Drugs, I am on is Clonazepam, 2mg at bedtime. It was initially prescribed due to, restless leg syndrome and cramping in my legs at night. The RLS and Cramping wouldn't let me sleep, and along with all my other medications still does not. Oh, I am so sorry for being a slow typist, I will type the name of the rest of my medications and doses after I get to my point. My family doctor of 35 years, after I told him the Clonazepam was not helping me sleep, he sent in a prescription for, Restoril 15mg, 1 to 2 at bedtime as needed. I have been taking this every evening now for over 2 years and it works... I usually fall asleep about 12 AM and wake up at about 9 AM. The Ohio Bureau Of Workmans Compensation, by the way, decided on March 30, 2017, that I am 100% Disabled. My Pain Management Dr. P> XXXXXXX has now decided to take me off of the Clonazepam because I am taking the Restoril. My Question is, Finally ... Is there a Medication that will do what the Clonazepam does with stopping the RLS and Leg Cramping at the same Time Helping Me Sleep?????? PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!

Thank You In Advance,

Jeri Watson

PS. I have a Full Blood Panel Done Every 6 Month and They Always Come Back Great, All My Liver and Kidney Enzymes and Functions are Great...

Brief Answer:
As explained below.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thanks for your query.

I have gone through the details. I understand your concern. Both the medicine you are taking now that is Clonazepam and Restoril come under the same group. So as your treating doctor has adviced, under their guidance, you can discontinue Clonazepam and continue only with Restoril. You should be okay with it.

I hope this answered your query. Let me know if I can help you further.

Hello,

My question was, IS THERE A MEDICATION THAT WILL DO BOTH?????????

A. Help get rid of the Restless Leg Syndrome and Leg Cramps During The
Night, while I am trying to get to sleep and stay asleep?

AND AT THE SAME TIME

B. Fall asleep and stay asleep for the night?

Clonazepam Helps My Restless Legs and The Leg Cramping,
BUT DOES NOT LET ME SLEEP!!!!!!!!!!!

RESTORIL Helps me SLEEP, BUT, WITH OUT THE CLONAZEPAM MY LEGS GO
CRAZY AND DEFEATS THE PURPOSE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

As I said in my finished question and answers, I have learned to live with a 5 as being
a "GOOD DAY" in THE DAYLIGHT.... I WOULD JUST LIKE TO BE ABLE TO GET A DECENT
NIGHTS SLEEP, WHEN I DON'T GET REST MY (5) GOES TO AN AVERAGE OF A (7) OR
EVEN HIGHER... MY GOAL IS NOT TO GO ON STRONGER PAIN MEDICATION AND A
PAIN MEDICATION PUMP HAS BEEN BROUGHT UP ONCE. BUT, I DO NOT WANT A
MEDICATION PUMP IN MY BODY.

PLEASE There Must Be A Medication Out There That Will Cover Both Of These Needs.

Again Thank You In Advance,

Jeri Watson

Brief Answer:
As explained below.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

I understood your query. I am sorry but there is no medicine that I am aware of which will treat RLS and insomnia. I suggest you try taking Restoril alone and see if it reduces your RLS symptoms as they both are under the same group of drugs. If it does not help you then I think you will have to continue taking both the medicines.

I hope this answered your query.
