Hello Doctor, I Got In Touch With You Long Time

Question: Hello Doctor,

I got in touch with you long time ago regarding a question i had about my skin condition on my groin...you mentioned to me that it was more like a recurrent sinus under the skin which causes chronic abscess every now and then...my doctor mentioned the same thing and told me to undergo surgery to open up the wound and clean up the whole area with cutting more from the top and sides so that everything is cleaned up...my question doctor, are they going to cut that entire skin and do clean up and then stitch the entire gap? which im afraid would stretch my skin...or is it only cutting open that area to clean and stitching back the existing skin?

Brief Answer:
Laying open the tract and scrapping the inner lining would be helpful

Detailed Answer:
Hi.
Thanks for your query.
Recollected the original discussion.
Seen the photos.
This is a small tract, I think.
Hence opening up the sinus and scrapping the inner lining would be sufficient in your case.
After scrapping the wound heals faster and better to completely obliterate the tract.
Usually the skin is not stitched as it heals from within so that the tract closes permanently, as is the standard principle of surgery of this type of a problem.
Hence, nothing to worry about; you are already carrying on this problem for a long time.
Small surgery would cure your problem for ever.
I hope this answers your query.
Please feel free to ask for further relevant queries if you feel that there is a gap of communication.
You may please go ahead with the surgery.

Thank you doctor for the information.
my surgeon wants to place me under general anesthesia because he wants to cut deep and do more cleaning with comfort, that is why i got a bit confused since it seems more serious than i thought.

Brief Answer:
As detailed below.

Detailed Answer:
I can understand. In few cases the sinus can go deep within and found only 'on table' - meaning while operating hence the extra care we have to take as Surgeons.
Please discuss with our Surgeon about possibility of an investigations called sinogram - an radio-opaques XXXXXXX is passed from the opening to know the possible depth and extent of a sinus. Another ways are probing, instilling blue XXXXXXX while operating and so on.
You ma please discuss with our Surgeon.
I hope this to be just superficial and not much to worry.
Please see for proper post-operative care in the form of sterile dressings and medications as would be advised.

Take care.
Do not worry.
All the best and have a great day.
