Question: Hello 50 ur old women quick question I traveled to Europe left XXXXXXX Thursday’s night arrived Europe Friday slept 4 hours in total now Saturday night ans I have terrible insomnia have not slept in almost 24 hrs is this jet lag due to time zone change ans how can I fix it so I sleep I am getting anxious because I haven’t sleep

Thanks for the query. I can understand your concern. According to your statement, you are now suffering from insomnia due to jet lag and time zone change.

Jet lag is a cause of temporary sleep problem that may be noticed after traveling across more than 2 time zones. Jet lag usually can persist for 24-36 hours per time zone crossed. But, in some persons it may last for a few days to a few weeks.

You can take melatonin that is available as a supplement, may help your body get sleepy. Again, after consulting your doctor, you can take sleeping pill for your mental calmness and insomnia.

As jet lag induced insomnia is a temporary condition and usually goes away within few days, so no long term treatment is needed.
