Posted on Sun, 11 Aug 2019
Question: Have had a nagging pain in right arm that runs from my elbow, which is also painful, down to the bone going to my thumb. It's primarily on the top side along the muscle and at times has a radiating pain in the elbow area. I can't lift or hold anything of more than 15 lbs. This has been for about 2 weeks.

Brief Answer:
Median nerve entrapment possible.

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear, welcome to Ask a doctor service.
I read your query and here is my advice.

I think this pain can be related to nerve compressions to the wrist known as nerve entrapment. Most probably median nerve entrapment in the wrist.
It may be caused by trauma or fracture, repetitive motion also other causes may be diabetes, fluid retention, thyroid problems arthritis etc.
You have to keep it at rest as much as possible and it would be good if you hang a wrist splint to keep are at neutral position.
Use antinflamatory drugs such advil or naproxen for pain and swelling.
Also corticosteroid injections can be helpful.

Hope I have answered the question.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
