HI - I Foolishly Did 3 Days Of Chainsawing Fire

Question: HI - I foolishly did 3 days of chainsawing fire wood and lifting two foot diameter pieces. My lower back and hip were extremely sore for about two weeks - that has mostly cleared up. But I have a pain that comes a little higher than the pubic bone and half way across to the right side. It comes when I move a certain way. I can find a sore spot by poking with my fingers though. I am wondering if it is a hernia or if there is anything I can do for it. Note I had robotic prostatectomy. thanks

Brief Answer:
Possible hernija

Detailed Answer:
Hi and welcome. Yes this is possible inguinal or suprapubic hernia and sometimes it may manifest only with pain, without bulge. However, it may be muscular issue or pinched nerve so I suggest to rest for 1,2 weeks more, take nonsteroid painkillers and see if this will improve. If not, you should do ultrasound to rule out inguinal hernia or similar issues. Wish you good health. Regards

Ok thanks - I will do that - what are symptoms of hernia (there is no bulge nor any pain from coughing) - could it be referred pain from pelvis? thanks

Brief Answer:
Hi

Detailed Answer:
Yes, there is usually bulge which protrudes during cough or exercise however there are hernias which may just cause pain, without bulging. I don't think this is related to pelvic or abdominal cavity since this pain generally should not change with movements or exercise so it is more likely related to abdominal wall. If there are other symptoms such as changes in bowel movements, weight loss or blood in stool then you should do colonoscopy or CT scan, but for hernia, ultrasound is sufficient.
