Brief Answer:
Wash with lukewarm water, apply mild hot towel over the closed eye.

Detailed Answer:

Hello,

There seems to be some mild congestion in the eye.

This could be due to a foreign body or infection.

First and foremost, you should not rub your eye.

You can wash your eye gently by splashing lukewarm water into it.

Follow that by applying a comfortably warm wet towel to the eye (keep the eye closed while applying the warm towel).

Do this 3 to 4 times a day and see how it goes.

Ideally, you must get it checked by an eye doctor at earliest to rule out an infection.

An antibiotic eye preparation like Ciprofloxacin can be used after consulting with the eye doctor. Antibiotic drops need to be instilled into both eyes.

Kindly consult your local eye doctor once to be on the safer side.

I hope this helps. Please feel free to write back to me if you have any doubts.

Would the eye drops have any side effect? Currently I would be travelling and have little time for doctor consultation. Please suggest.
