Question: For the past month I have had little spasms where I get a "rumbling" in my ear, it was very subtle and somewhat frequent before and now it's not quite as frequent (yet, though it has been today) but is stronger and followed by fluid leaking from my ear. What is this? I haven't been sick as of late, and I've never had any ear issues before, sinus or otherwise. It's only happening in my left ear.

Detailed Answer:
Hii. Its evident from your symptoms that you are having rumbling sound in the ear along with ear discharge with or without ear fullness. The sound in the ear is known as tinnitus. There are XXXXXXX causes of this tinnitus. But as discharge is coming from the ear it is mainly due to acute or chronic infection of the ear canal or ear drum. The cause of the infection may be bacterial or fungal. Even if you haven't previously encountered with any sinus or ear infection but there is always a chance to get infection in the ear. It can be due to infection of the ear canal which is very common. Fungal infection can also cause similar problem. In that case you have to take candid ear drops and antiallergic tablet. If it's a bacterial infection of the middle part of or ear drum then it can be associated with perforation of the ear drum also. In all these cases you have to take antibiotic tablet and ear drop and antiallergic tablet. You also need to clean your ear by an Ent surgeon. Tinnitus without ear discharge can be due to nerve weakness, exposure to loud sound, any viral infection. So you have to consult an Ent surgeon and get your ear checked and if needed do a hearing test to assess your hearing status. For now avoid water entry to ear during bathing. Only after seeing the ear the mode of treatment can be selected. Please review if you have any queries.
