First I Had A Red Rash Under My Arm In

default
Posted on Thu, 30 May 2019
Question: First I had a red rash under my arm in my armpit & it disappeared in a couple of days. Now I have a rash on one side of my lower stomach (actually in the fold of my stomach since I am overweight) almost to the vagina area......it is just a rash; it doesn't hurt or itch. It is just weird & the two instances must be related.
The armpit rash I just treated w/Neosporin but this rash is larger. I found I have some Clotrimazole & betamethasone dipropionate cream. Should I use it?

Brief Answer:
may be intertrigo-inflammation of skin folds

Detailed Answer:
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

It is possible that the rashes are related to intertrigo which refers to inflammation that occurs in the body skin folds.

The inflammation can occur on its own or it may be associated with bacterial or fungal infections or both.

Heat, moisture and the friction/rubbing between the skin folds promote intertrigo.
The cream that you mentioned (clotrimazole and bethamethasone ) can be used (small sparing amounts to reduce side effects from the steroid aspect). You should also consider the use of petrolatum or another barrier cream such as triple paste (or any other zinc based cream)

I hope this helps, feel free to ask any other questions
