Brief Answer:
Answer given below

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for posting your query.
I am Dr.R.K and I am pleased to assist you.
Diverticulitis is a complication of diverticulosis which in turn is a complication of chronic constipation/poor fiber intake.
These are common in elderly patients.
A physical examination may show tenderness in the left lower quadrant in diverticulitis.
You can get a CT scan of the abdomen to see if your pain is due to diverticulitis.
If the pain is due to mild diverticulitis, a course of antibiotics may provide relief.
Regards,
Dr.R.K
