Does Vitex Help To Regulate Menstruation Cycle?

default
Posted on Fri, 24 Oct 2014
Question: Hi, I recently came off the pill eight weeks ago and got up to cycle day 50 with no periods. Upon doing some research I read that by taking Vitex it may help to regulate my cycle. I actually got my period the next day however I'm now on day 7 of having my period and there is little to no flow, I'm now only getting blood when I wipe after going to the toilet and it's bright red! How long past the 7 days should I consider going to the doctors or is this normal for the first period off the pill?

Brief Answer:
No treatment needed.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for trusting us with your health concern.
After stopping the pill it is normal to have a delayed bleeding or an irregular pattern of bleeding. This does not need any treatment and it will gradually stop on its own after 5-7 days. In case there is a heavy bleeding and it continues for more than a week then a hormonal treatment may be needed to stop the bleeding. In that case you can consult your gynecologist.
Please feel free to discuss further. I will be glad to answer the follow up queries that you have.
Wishing you good health.
Regards.

You can wait till day 15 for this spotting to stop. In case it continues then you can consult your gynecologist for hormonal treatment.
