Dear Doctor, I Am 36 Years Old Male Married For
Question: Dear Doctor, I am 36 years old male married for 4 years. I am aspiring to be father since an year without result. Recently when I went to XXXXXXX he asked for semen analysis which was 20 million. He asked me to get Scrotal doppeler test done and in that report I see result as "BILATERAL GRADE 1 VARICOCELES". will it cause infertility? Does I need a surgery for this? or medicine would be enough? please help me with this.

Thanks for your query, based on the facts that you have posted it appears that you have trying to father a child and your sperm count is low (20 millions ) .and detected to have bilateral grade one Varicocele.
I shall be happy if you can upload report of your semen analysis to make precise comments and suggestions. You have not mentioned about menstrual cycle of your wife whether it is regular or not?
Does she have been checked up by qualified Gynecologist ?
At the outset I would like to state that Oligospermia that you have may not be due to grade one Varicocele and normally we do not advocate surgery to correct Varicocele of grade one ,more over doing a surgery can not give a guarantee of increasing a sperm count .
Following general measures will help you to increase the sperm count and morphology of sperms
1) Practice regular exercise for 45 minutes followed by meditation for 1/2 an hour in the morning.
2) Take high protein diet rich in vegetables and fruits and Vitamin A, C, D ,E. and Zinc
3)Take anti oxidants like Almonds 5-6 everyday..
4) Avoid alcohol and smoking..
5) Take Tab Fertomid once daily for five days in a week for 3 months.
