Could A Canker Sore Persists For A Really Long Time Causing Facial Swelling?

Posted on Thu, 4 Feb 2021
Question: My wife has abrasions that run on the inside of her bottom jaw line where the cheek meets the bottom of the gums (appears to look like a really longer connected cancur (sorry about the spelling here) sore as well as what looks like a somewhat deep circular pea sized sore/lesion in the back of her throat, her jaw is visibly swollen when looking at her face, she has a hard marble sized lump under her arm pit under the skin and within the last few hours can feel two more hard lumps under her arm pit. Can you help me shed some light here on what is going on? what the issues is and what it is called? and how to treat this? Thank you so much and keep me posted, it is greatly appreciated!

Brief Answer:
Detailed evaluation is needed.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for the query.
According to your description the lesion seems like a chronic canker sore or condition like eruthroplakia. It could have been better if you attached a picture along with the query.
As of now you can try the following
1.Apply topical steroid ointment like triamcinolone mouth paste.
2. Have diet rich in fruits and vegetables.
3. Take multivitamin tablets like supradyn.
If the lesion persist consult an oral pathologist and take a biopsy.
The lumps in the armpit could not be attributed to this. Generally inflammation in the mouth cause enlarged lymph nodes in neck, not in armpit. However you can consult a GP if the lump persist for long.
Wishing you good health.
Thanks
