I am not a nutritionist, I'm a family practice physician, but I can tell you these general rules about supplements and pregnancy:

1. If it's a vitamin or mineral, it's generally ok to take it as long as the amount doesn't exceed what is generally allowable for pregnancy. For example, for years I took 2000mg of Vitamin C but once I was pregnant, I slowly tapered down on the dose. Part of the reason was to prevent my baby from developing a Vitamin C (ascorbic acid) deficiency after birth, because her body would be used to the presence of a high dose, but wouldn't be receiving as much in breast milk. 2. The second general rule is that most supplements that aren't vitamins and minerals generally haven't been studied as to their effects in pregnancy.
