Can Having Steroids Pose Any Risks To The Newborn While Breastfeeding?

Question: Am a 28 yr old female with two kids , first one aged 3 and half years (had breast milk for two years ) second baby is 3 months old (currently breast feeding). My concern is since 25th week of my second pregnancy I started feeling a hard lump in my left breast which is painless and I had no fever.. I met my gynaecologist and had antibiotic for one week but it increased in size..then i met a surgeon(as advised by my gyne ) and started taking corticosteroids (gupisone 5 mg) from 30th week of my pregnancy...I had FNA and trucut biopsy as well...attached are my reports .I need a suggestion how to cure it and want to know what actually it is? Is taking steroid ok for me and my baby ?

Surgical removal of the mass is best option.

I have seen all the attached reports. There is a chronic infection present in the mass. It is a benign mass and there is no sign of cancer. Steroid treatment will not help.

This needs to be surgically excised and biopsied. Just taking antibiotics or steroids will not help.

thanks for your detailed advise. I want to remove it after one year since am breast feeding now. can I stop taking steroids and take homeopathy medicines till surgery?

You can stop the steroids.

Hello,

You can stop the steroids as these will not help you. You can wait for a year but it is best to go for a mammogram and an ultrasound scan every 3 months to monitor the progress of the lump during this one year.

You can start with homeopathic medicines but their effect on the lump is doubtful.
