default
Posted on Fri, 21 Jul 2017
Question: Hello. I have noticed some kind of raised pimple or something on my inner left thigh that is not a skin tag. It bothers me when I walk unless I put some cream on it. Please see the attachment photos. Thank you.

Brief Answer:
Carbuncles

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Thank you for using Healthcaremagic to post your health query.
I read carefully your question and I saw your photos.

It looks like those pimples are carbuncles which are multiple infected hair follicles stacked inside. What you can do about those is to apply local heat so whats inside will get organized and drain. The draining will help it heal fast.

It is not recommended to take antibiotics if you have just those 2 lesions. But if you have many of those, or if they are increasing in number and not getting better, then the recommendations are to take antibiotics and drainage.
Let me know if you have a lot from them and I will tell you what to take in the local pharmacy, but you will need a prescription and I cannot give it from here.

If worse or not better, I would recommend seeing a local doctor.

Hope this is helpful.
Let me know if you need more clarifications.

Regards,
Dr. Papaqako

Thank you. I only have the one. Do you recommend moist heat/steam heat?
I assume these develop from rubbing on clothing in the warm weather?
And how often should I apply the heat each day?

Brief Answer:
Moist heat.

Detailed Answer:
Hello again,

They form from the rubbing and from the area there which has hair, gets moist a lot and needs a very good hygiene to prevent these infections.

Yes, apply moist heat, 3 times/day.
If you feel that your thighs rub together, then after the moist heat, make sure to dry well the area and apply thin player of baby powder.

Hope this makes sense and it is helpful.

Dr. Papaqako
