Can A Flu Cause A High Fever, Headache, Congestion And Cough?
Question: my son, XXXXXXX most likely had influenza January 29th-Feb 3. (he did not get swabbed, but he and his brother and his dad all got hit with it and had the classic symptoms including fever over 102 degerees, headache, congestion, cough. Ranging from 3-7 days)
XXXXXXX has asthma and was put on a 5 day prednisone steroid starting on the 31st. His recovery was successful and he was back to himself by February 4th.
On February 14th he started to fever again. on the 14th it was a lower grade, around 99-100.5. On the 15th his fever ranged from 99.5-101.5 Last night, the 15th he began to fever 102-103.5. The fever has not broke and he vomited this morning.
also, he has no cough, no wheezing, and only a slight runny nose

It could be just the viral flu. Treat him symptomatically for fever give panadol or Acetaminophen 6 hourly.
If fever is more than 100 F then Ibrugesic is suggested along with taped sponging. As there are no other symptoms no other medicines are needed.
Wait for 2 more days, if still, symptoms persist then he should be physically examined by Pediatrician.
