Question: Hi
What would happen if I have a lite beer the night before I am scheduled to have a breast augmentation and a tummy tuck with liposuction? I am trying to taper off of alcohol, however I am
Afraid to go cold turkey. Will Valium help instead of drinking?

Brief Answer:
Continue Valium and avoid alcohol.

Detailed Answer:
Hello Mam.
A light beer would not do much harm but since you are on a quitting path it would not be a good idea. I suggest you continue Valium rather than beer.
The problem that can be expected will be by the Anaesthetist in inducing you for general anesthesia as you will require a higher dose of anesthetic drugs to induce you. These can sometimes cause some problems but are usually well managed by the Anaesthetists.
Therefore I suggest that you stay away from alcohol before surgery.
All the best and take care.
