Brief Answer:
it is used in nerve related pain

Detailed Answer:
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Cymbalta is an anti depressant/anti anxiety medication that can also be used for diabetic neuropathy.

There are a number of antidepressant medications and also some anti seizure medications (gabapentin, tegretol, lyrica) that are used in persons with either neuropathy or chronic pain.
These persons do not have depression/anxiety or seizures.

The exact way in which pain relief occurs is not entirely clear but it is thought that the anti depressants such as cymbalta may affect the levels and action of certain chemicals that play a part in nerve pain.

This means that you can try to see if this medication would help relieve your diabetic neuropathy. If it is not effective for you, there are other medications that your doctor may try.

I hope this helps, feel free to ask any other questions
