Question: I have Osteomyelitis and I am on Vancomycin
I now have swollen glands and a fever. Can these be related?

Hi,

Well, osteomyelitis is a serious infection and it may lead to systemic signs and symptoms so fever and swollen glands are probably caused by it. This is a reaction of your body to infection in bones.

It should subside after antibiotics start to work. If there will be persistent fever then you should change antibiotic maybe and do microbiological tests to rule out some resistant bacterias. Swollen glands could be due to long-standing infections.

Also, if it persists, you should do hemoculture to see whether infections are present. Please discuss this with your doctor.
