Question: Can chronic belching, bloating and gas build up be symptoms of "Small intestinal bacterial overgrowth (SIBO)"?

Even though the gas mostly goes up (belching) rather than down (flatulence)?

Brief Answer:
It could be SIBO.

Detailed Answer:
Hi, I have gone through your question and understand your concerns.

Concerns you describe could be related to small intenstinal bacterial overgrowth, especially if there are other symptoms like weight loss, nausea, vomiting etc. besides belching and bloating.

The diagnosis is confirmed by aspirating contents of small intestine (fibroendoscopy) and counting the bacteria per milliliter.

Hope this answers your question. If you have additional questions or follow up questions then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your questions.
