Brief Answer:
I agree with the treatment protocol

Detailed Answer:
Hello. Thank you for writing to us

I am dr.kakkar (dermatologist).
I have gone through your query and I have noted your concern.
Oral steroids are primarily used to stop the spread i.e progression of vitiligo patches and they should be stopped once the disease has stopped progressing. Though, oral steroids may induce transient repigmentation they are not first line treatment for repigmenting vitiligo patches whereas topical tacrolimus, topical steroids and basic fibroblast growth factor (melbild lotion) etc are the treatments of choice among others like topical psoralens and phototherapy. Hence I agree that your doctor has chosen to start you on topical tacrolimus ointment, melbild lotion along with antioxidants (sodox).

Brief Answer:
Regarding vitiligo

Detailed Answer:
Hi.

Sodox is an antioxidant. One of the proposed theroies behind vitiligo patches is oxidative stress that kills melanocytes, thats why your doctor gave you an antioxidant. It is safe for long term use. Antioxidants are in general safe for long term use. They act by quenching free radicals have multiple other health benefits asa well..
Tacrolimus and Melbild are non-steroidal topical preparations and are safe for long term use. You may use these for 3-4 months for a fair therapeutic trial.
There are no specific dietary recommendations or restrictions in vitiligo.

Brief Answer:
You are welcome

Detailed Answer:
Hi.

I don't have any specific reference of doctors in XXXXXXX You may visit a dermatologist of your own choice in your vicinity. You would require only topical treatment since you have only a single patch of vitiligo and all dermatologists are well versed with the diagnosis and managment of a single/ focal/ isolated vitiligo patch.
Whereas extensive/ generalised/ widespread vitiligo may require phototherapy in addition to topical treatment e.g NB-UVB therapy or PUVA which are usually available in large hospitals or large private set up. Not everyone does it.
