I have been on Depo-Provera for 18 months with no bleeding or spotting in that entire time. I just, in the last three days, starting having a small amount of light pink spotting. I have always gotten my injections on time and am due for my next one in 10 days. I am 45 years old. Is this worrisome...

Hey, i have taken the depo provera shot for the first time and now im having heavy bleeding, is this normal?
Hi, Depo provera - is a hormone - medroxyprogesterone acetate and is a progestin-only long acting reversible hormonal contraceptive birth control drug that is injected every 3 months.Irregular or unpredictable bleeding or spotting, or rarely, heavy or continuous bleeding in the first months of usage can occur.
I got the depo provera shot a month ago and noe i have had my period for like two weeks. Is that normal?
It is common for menstrual disturbances to occur during the early days of use of the depo shots.Things settle down with time as the body gets used to the new hormone levels. If you happen to bleed profusely for a prolonged time you should see your doctor for treatment, by hormonal supplementation and styptics. If the bleeding recurs, you are not a suitable candidate for the depo shot.Take care.
