Hi,

Thank you for posting your query.

I agree with you that the current symptoms suggest a diagnosis of stroke in your father.

CT scan may be normal in the early phase or if the stroke is minor.

In his case, an MRI of the brain would be useful, if not already done, for the correct identification of the stroke.

He should be started on blood thinners such as aspirin tablets.

Best wishes,

Neurologist Dr. Gopal Krishna Dash's  Response
Hello,
Thank you very much for posting this question in HCM
Let me tell you that any symptom in medicine can be due to various causes and the primary objective of the rerating doctor is to establish the cause and deal accordingly. Apart from that the presence or absence of certain symptoms, age of the patient, gender, weight and other co-morbid medical conditions (For example diabetes, blood pressure, kidney problem, past history of stroke in heart/ brain, psychiatric disorder etc) can help us narrow down the possibility.
Let us see your problem. I have noted your problem. One definite possibility of stroke is there. If the stroke is early, it may not be seen by CT scan. Better to get MRI scan brain to rule out stroke. Stroke is a medical emergency. If MRI scan is normal, the other possibility could be myasthenia gravis.
Basically your father needs clinical evaluation by a neurologist who can determine the neurological deficits and plan the tests accordingly. Note that the management of these two conditions are different
So you need urgent medical attention by a neurologist
Hope these will help you
